How to match a wedding dress to your figure?

When choosing a perfect wedding dress we are usually guided by photos of models in dresses, or our ideas how we want to look like at wedding. Meanwhile, the most important thing is to choose the right dress cut for your figure and lace pattern for beauty type.

Here are a few rules that you should follow when choosing a wedding dress to delight your loved one, your guests and most of all yourself:

  • Don’t look at how the dress looks on a hanger or a model, just how you look in it.
  • Don’t listen to the advice of people who have different tastes than you – we often follow the suggestions of non-objective advisors, not always in our favor.

Look at your figure!

apple

  • Pear – If your hips are much wider than your shoulders, adipose tissue is deposited on your thighs and buttocks, and the rest of your body is slight build, it means you have the silhouette of a pear.
To balance the proportions it is best to choose models of dresses with a bottom without folds, gently surrounding the hips. The top of dress should widen the shoulders slightly.
Sleeves (long, short, 3/4, butterflies) and flounces, wristbands and shoulder straps will definitely fit you.
  • Inverted triangle – If your nightmare is too wide shoulders, but hips are straight and the whole body looks boyish, it is best to choose cuts that optically widen the bottom of your body and at the same time distract attention from the shoulders. Folded skirts or A-shaped bottoms and sleeveless tops with rather wide shoulder straps and V-cut neckline will be great.
  • Apple – Large breasts, adipose tissue deposited in the waist, narrow hips and small legs are the special features of apple silhouettes.
Most women with this type of body figure want to cover their massive hands with sleeves or breasts with neckline, thinking that they will look finer then – nothing more wrong! We want to divert attention from the hands and focus it on the central part of neckline, and to widen the hips. It is also advisable to expose the legs, because it will give the whole silhouette of lightness. We recommend sleeveless cuts, with V-cut neckline but if you prefer boat neckline a lace pattern arranged in a herringbone or clear vertical lines running through the middle of the neckline. The bottom is best in A-letter, without folding at the waist, not to widen the waist!
If you don’t like to show off your hands, and I suggest – sleeves aren’t the best solution for you, you can choose a shoulder fringe or translucent butterflies – this way the whole look will look very subtle and your hands will be covered to the minimum, but not widened.
  • Hourglass – If you have the silhouette of hourglass, we have good news for you – no matter what is your size, you can do it all! Alternatively, when you are slight build, avoid dresses that seem to be heavy, so as not to overwhelm your figure.

In addition

  • When your biggest complex is small breasts, do not avoid at all costs necklines, saying that you have nothing to show! On the contrary! You can afford larger cuts, less built-up or no bra and thus more open back. Moreover, a well-chosen shape of your neckline will optically enlarge your breasts and make them look attractive.
  • Patterns on laces is a very important issue! If you are a tiny person of delicate, girly beauty, too big patterns can dominate you, leave them for the ladies who have a distinctive beauty and fuller shapes, and you should choose delicate floral patterns, dots, stripes – something that will not draw attention from your face.
  • It’s not true that large patterns or white color thicken – a properly selected cut and arrangement of patterns on the lace can even significantly slimmer the figure!
  • Slim-fit sleeves are best suited for women with too narrow arms and slim hands, but even if you don’t have slim hands it is enough to choose a sleeve that extends to the bottom, and suddenly, as with a wand, your hand in the bicep area will seem slimmer.
If you dream of a long, fitted sleeve, but it turns out that you look too heavy, try to shorten it slightly over your elbow and you will see how much lighter the whole body will look. Remember that sometimes body parts “covered” by lace are even more eye-catching, so when you leave your hands naked, everyone’s eyes will focus on your dress and not on your shoulders.

We are aware that choosing the right cut is difficult, that’s why our stylists are at your disposal. We will help you choose the right model to suit you best. We will help you expose the features of your figure that are worth showing and hide those that you do not want or should not expose.

  • Custom made

Wedding dresses are sewn in standard sizes, thus you can choose from the size chart below. Basic dimensions (such as waist or bust width, neckline depth, etc.) are unchanged within a given size. Based on your measurements in your wedding dress we will verify whether the model will fit you well and adjust it so that it fits best. We will always match the length of your skirt, sleeves, etc.

  • Ready To Wear

You can buy Ready To Wear products available immediately in standard sizes according to our size chart. Waist circumference

Measure your waist at the narrowest point of body. The measure should easily “wrap up” in this place. Consider leaving room for your stomach?

Hip circumference

Measure your hips at the widest point. Sometimes it is at the height of the most protruding point of buttocks and sometimes lower at the bend of thighs under the buttocks – depending on your body shape.

Do not tighten the measuring tape, let this circumference pass freely through your hips. You can leave some room for more freedom! If your skirt is too tight, it will pull up when you walk!

zbieranie pomiarów długość rękawa
Sleeve length

Measure the length of sleeve (if the dress has a long sleeve) starting at about the bra strap up to your wrist (the place that bends when you put your hand up).

zbieranie pomiarów szerokość pleców
Back width

Measure the width of your back. When standing straight with your hands down, ask someone to measure from the point where your left hand touches your body to the same point on the right.

zbieranie pomiarów wysokość dekoltu na plecach
Neckline depth on the back

Measure your back neckline depth by asking someone to measure from the shoulder (from the bra strap) to the middle of back, to the depth of target bra – so that it does not protrude from under the dress later on.

zbieranie pomiarów głębokość dekoltu
Neckline depth at the front

Measure your neckline depth at the front, asking someone to measure from the shoulder (from the bra strap) to the middle of neckline, to the depth of target bra – so that it does not protrude from under the dress later on.

zbieranie pomiarów odległość od ramienia do sutka
Length from arm to nipple

Measure your breast height by measuring your shoulder to the most protruding point of your breast (usually exactly in the middle of breast).

zbieranie pomiarów odległość od ramienia do talii widok z boku
Length (through the nipple) to the waist

Measure the waist height. For this purpose, it is best to wrap yourself around the waist with a ribbon, elastic band or belt so that you can see the narrowest point of your body. Ask someone to guide the tape from your shoulder to the top of chest to your waist.

If you have large breasts, try to guide the tape measure along the breast line without stretching it too much, or even stick it to your breast from underneath – a little as if you wanted to draw your contour with a profile.

zbieranie pomiarów szerokośc przodu widok z boku
Front width (through the breast)

Measure the width of your front by measuring from the side (usually the side is determined by bra seams or a matching blouse) to the side, leading it through the most protruding part of your breasts.

zbieranie pomiarów wysokość bioder widok z przodu
Hip height

Measure the height of your hips. For this purpose, it is best to wrap yourself around the waist with a ribbon, elastic band or strap and from this point to measure the widest point of your hips (usually at the height of the most protruding point of buttocks or fold under the buttock).

zbieranie pomiarów długość spódnicy
Length from waist to bottom

NOTE: Wear your target shoes!

Measure the length of your skirt. Wrap yourself around your waist with a ribbon, rubber band or belt and ask someone to measure from waist to ground. Take the measure in the target shoes. If you are planning to change to lower or flat shoes, measure the dress with the lower shoes – otherwise you will trip over your dress.

zbieranie pomiarów obwód ręki w bicepsie
Hand circumference (in biceps)

Measure your hand circumference (if your dress has a sleeve) at the point where your biceps is the widest.

zbieranie pomiarów obwód ręki w odległości 3/4
Hand circumference (end of sleeve 3/4)

Measure your hand circumference (if your dress has a sleeve) at the point where you would like your sleeve ¾ to end, which is slightly below your elbow.

zbieranie pomiarów obwód ręki w nadgarstku
Hand circumference (wrist)

Measure your hand circumference (if your dress has a sleeve) at the point where your wrist is narrowest.
